Alices Seat This beautiful building with cob walls and a
thatched roof is named after Alice Hext who lived at Trebah from
1906-1939. Restored in 2002, it has recently won a prestigious Civic
Trust award.
Vinery This secluded little building is also
conveniently close to the Visitor Centre, making it an ideal
location for our education programme.
War Memorials Trebah Beach was an embarkation point for American forces preparing
for the D-Day landings in 1944. There are memorials near the
beach to the US 29th Infantry Division and the British Airborne
Forces, with whom Major Tony Hibbert served.
Trebah House Trebah House was built in the 18th century, bought by the Fox family
in 1826, and remained in their possession until 1906. Charles
Fox followed by his son-in-law Edmund Backhouse were responsible
for most of the original planting in the garden.
Koi Pool Spend a moment to relax beside this atmospheric pool, watch the
Koi Carp glide through the water and listen to the hypnotic
sound of the waterfall. Your cares and worries will melt away.
Mallard Pond Visit in summer to experience over 2 acres of massed blue and white
hydrangeas cascading down the valley towards you. It is truly
breathtaking.
Trebah Valley This view from the house looking down towards
the Helford River is one of the most spectacular garden views
anywhere. Charles
Fox, the garden’s original creator, would surely be well
pleased.
Trebah Beach This private beach on the Helford River offers stunning views,
and is a popular choice for family picnics and swimming in
the summer.
Gunnera with
Major Tony Hibbert There is a winding path for the brave visitor through the impressive
and primeval Giant Rhubarb from Brazil, Gunnera manicata, and
you half expect to see monsters at every turn.
Paraglide Trebah provides a range of activities for children, including fun
trails around the garden and three adventure play areas for
children. This exciting paraglide caters for budding sky-divers.
Garden Shop Stocked with a colourful profusion of exotic and hardy plants,
and staffed by knowledgeable, friendly and helpful plant enthusiasts.
Chusan Palms This outstanding view of the tallest Chusan
Palms in England is probably Trebah’s most famous image.
The atmospheric blue haze gives a feel of the Himalayas.
Water Garden You will be treated to a profusion of colour in early summer, with
candelabra primulas, Zantedeschia lilies and astilbes contrasting
with the exotic shapes of the ferns and palms.
Chilean Coomb A beautiful view in the valley in early summer with bluebells
through the leaves of a striking Davidia tree. Visit earlier
in spring to see a profusion of daffodils and a magnificent
Magnolia campbellii at the head of the valley.

Hibbert Centre This magnificent Visitor Centre,
completed in 2002, was designed by Jonathan Saunders and built
with help from The Heritage Lottery Fund and Objective One. It
includes a Restaurant, Gift Shop and Gallery, and blends in unobtrusively
with the garden.
